In the wake of today’s report delivered by the Teacher Education Expert Panel, Education Minister, Jason Clare, announced that in-principle agreements have been reached with state and territory counterparts to reforms on how institutions train teachers.
ATN Executive Director, Luke Sheehy, said ATN’s group of universities are crucial to delivering the early childhood, primary and secondary teachers that Australia needs.
“We are committed to improving educational outcomes and pathways and we have a vital societal role in supplying classroom ready, research informed and innovative teachers,” he said.
“Our universities are always looking for ways to improve Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programs to ensure graduates are best prepared to deliver the best quality education to students.”
There are more than 17,000 enrolments across ATN universities, with the largest number of prospective teachers in three states – Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
