The $250M commitment to Vietnam by RMIT University is further evidence of the leadership in transnational education by members of the Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN).

ATN Executive Director, Luke Sheehy, applauded the strategic investment, which will begin with RMIT’s Hanoi Industry and Innovation Hub.

“This quarter-of-a-billion-dollar announcement overseen by Prime Minister, the Honourable Anthony Albanese, illustrates the importance of our deep ties with international partners such as Vietnam,” Mr Sheehy said.

“I can only echo the words of the PM, that RMIT is indeed delivering the best of Australian education to the Vietnam campus. The Federal Government is well aware of the value of extending this partnership with an enduring friend in the region. Congratulations to RMIT Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alec Cameron, and his team on the work to create the innovation hub, which will be an important gateway between the two countries.”

RMIT Vietnam was first established in the year 2000 and was the first foreign-owned international university to open there.

RMIT’s Country Commitment to Vietnam will support collaboration between Hanoi’s communities, Government and industries on key priorities, including smart and sustainable cities and emerging technologies.

Prof. Alec Cameron said education has the power to transform lives, communities and economies.

“As Australia’s largest higher educational institution in-country and recognised as the exemplar of international education in Vietnam, we’re proud of the contribution that RMIT has made to Vietnam over the past 23 years,” he said.
