The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN Universities) welcomes the appointment of Professor Ute Roessner AM FAA as CEO of the Australian Research Council (ARC).
Leadership of the ARC is critically important, and especially so this year given the strategic examination of R&D which is currently underway.
ATN Executive Director, Dr Ant Bagshaw, recognises that Prof Roessner brings a wealth of experience to the role and says that the appointment is good news for Australia’s world-class system of research.
“We very much look forward to working with Prof Roessner, and the ARC team, to ensure that all research, including the applied and industry-facing research for which our universities are world renowned, is well supported,” he said.
“Across the ATN universities we have the best and brightest minds at work each day trying to find solutions to the biggest challenges facing our society. Public funding, from bodies including the ARC, is vital to those research and innovation efforts.”
