What is the future for higher education? ATN25 – UTS Panel Discussion
The Australian Technology Network of Universities, of which the University of Technology Sydney is a member, turns 25 this year. We’re in a reflective mood and have been looking at our history. ATN also wishes to look to the future, and to ask questions about the roles that our universities play in contemporary Australia. What are – and should be – the defining features of our universities? What are students’ changing needs, and how will we serve them? How will we deliver research which has impact on society and the economy? What is our broader role in social progress, in Reconciliation and Closing the Gap, and for Australia’s place in the world?
The event will start with a short presentation by ATN’s Executive Director, Dr Ant Bagshaw, looking back at ATN’s history and drawing out the themes which have defined member universities and the context in which they have worked. We will then move into the panel discussion. The formal event will conclude with time to network. As well as an in-person audience, ATN will record the event for sharing as a podcast.
