The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) is pleased to partner with Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) for the launch of the MoRA-ATN Research and Innovation Scheme (MoARIS).

Since initially forging a partnership in August 2016, the ATN has collaborated with MoRA to design and progress the scholarship scheme as part of the 5,000 Doctors program, aimed at providing Indonesian students with the opportunity to pursue their doctoral research studies across the five ATN universities.

“Our partnership with MoRA aims to create more opportunities for Indonesia’s best and brightest to take their research outcomes and contribute actively to the continued development of the global community, and this new scheme will provide that pathway,” says ATN Executive Director, Renee Hindmarsh.

The scholarship scheme, jointly awarded by the ATN and MoRA, will seek to honour students who position themselves as agents of change, problem solvers and innovators who are able to further develop interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research on 11 key research themes.

The key streams represent issues that are vital to the future development of technology and infrastructure globally, including global bio-economy; data science; digital media technologies; energy technology and infrastructure; future industries; entrepreneurship, innovation and strategy; accountability, regulation and governance; business process management in governance and leadership; health determinants and health systems; chronic disease and aging and; STEM education.

“The ATN universities are renowned for delivering high quality tertiary education and world-class research, and we are confident that through participating in this scheme, MoARIS awardees will investigate, explore and innovate solutions to real issues facing Australia and Indonesia, delivering significant economic, social and cultural benefits for both countries.

“We are proud to partner with MoRA on this initiative, and we look forward to welcoming the MoARIS awardees to our universities. Application for MoARIS will close 22nd May 2017” Ms Hindmarsh says.

ATN is a consortium of five major Australian universities; Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Sydney, RMIT University in Melbourne, University of South Australia (UniSA) in Adelaide and Curtin University in Perth.
