26 April 2024The latest episode of the Australian Technology Network of Universities podcast, ATN Perspectives, highlights the daily cost-of-living challenges faced by university students.
Host, ATN Executive Director (Interim), Frank Coletta, is joined by Dr Julia Cook, The University of Newcastle (Australian Research Council, Discovery Early Career Researcher Award) Senior Research Fellow and Jasmyne Tweed, President of the Curtin Student Guild whose role is seen as a conduit between Curtin’s students and senior executives, advocating on key student issues.
With speculation around cost-of-living relief measures being prepared ahead of the May 14 Federal Budget, the panelists discuss the most pressing issues facing students as they try to combine study while working to pay the bills, deliver their thoughts on what can be done to better support students while also providing anecdotal evidence of programs which are in place, and working, at some universities.
