ATN universities central to success of Managed Growth Funding

18 December 2024

The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN Universities) has welcomed today’s commitment by the Federal Government in the 2024-25 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) to key recommendations from the Australian Universities Accord, including a new Managed Growth Funding system.

ATN Universities Executive Director, Dr Ant Bagshaw, said he was pleased to see plans from the Accord coming to fruition.

“This moves us closer to the ambitions of the Accord and we can also see a path forward which can support the growth ambitions of our sector,” Dr Bagshaw said.

“ATN Universities believes the Managed Growth Funding system should best support the universities which are demonstrably in demand from students. We hope that the packages of reforms, including Needs-based Funding, means sustainable growth for those in-demand institutions.

“We will always welcome measures which recognise of the importance of higher education to Australia and look forward to meaningful engagement with Australian Tertiary Education Commission (ATEC) in helping shape the sector.”
