Future of jobs and skills in good hands with new JSA Deputy Commissioners

14 August 2024

The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) said today’s appointment of the new Deputy Commissioners of Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA), Megan Lilly and Trevor Gauld, is a significant step which should support the broader agenda for tertiary education reform.

ATN Executive Director, Dr Ant Bagshaw, said both will bring a wealth of experience to the JSA leadership team.

“The JSA holds a crucial leadership role across government, and is critical to the tertiary education reform agenda, and the connection of high-quality education to industry needs,” he said.

“ATN has enjoyed working closely with Megan Lilly and the team at Ai Group in recent years and we look forward to building on that relationship. We also look forward to forming a strong bond with Trevor Gauld.

“The JSA is well positioned to support the Universities Accord reform agenda under the stewardship of JSA Commissioner, former Western Sydney University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Barney Glover AO, who recognises the criticality of building closer links between the higher and vocational education systems to help deliver the future skills needed for Australia.”

Both Megan Lilly and Prof Glover have featured on the ATN Perspectives podcast this year and Prof Glover delivered the keynote address at the ATN25 National Symposium: Curriculum Innovation.
