The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) has launched a book documenting the achievements and milestones of the group across the past 25 years.
Shining the Light on Australia’s Brightest – 25 years of the Australian Technology Network of Universities has been authored by former journalist and now Director of Strategic Insights at RMIT University, Angel Calderon, and includes a foreword by former ATN Universities Chair and the 30th Governor of Victoria, Professor Margaret Gardner AC.
Current ATN Chair and Curtin University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Harlene Hayne CNZM, has also provided reflections of her time working with colleagues across the group’s membership.
ATN Executive Director, Dr Ant Bagshaw, told guests inside The Old Chapel on the RMIT Melbourne City Campus that the publication paid tribute to ATN’s policy clout over many years.
“From day one our universities have found unique ways in which to collaborate and advocate for the benefit of the sector. The ATN directorate has long been a trusted voice across the political landscape with a track record of game-changing advocacy,” he said.
Author Angel Calderon said he had no hesitation in writing the historical account when first approached.
“ATN has been a champion in key areas across tertiary education, including women in leadership, applied research and impactful sustainability measures and this book gives due recognition to many significant achievements. I enjoyed writing about those outcomes but also uncovered quite a few things which I think will quite surprise some readers,” he said.
The digital book has also been launched today on the ATN website.
