Dr Alana Piper
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement and Partnerships), UTS
Dr Alana Piper assumed the role of DVC (External Engagement and Partnerships) at UTS in late September, overseeing a new division that integrates advancement, alumni, corporate engagement, and marketing functions.
With a strong commercial background, Dr Piper built Financial Review Ventures into one of Nine Entertainment’s fastest-growing units, driving significant growth through initiatives like AFR Live, a national event series featuring prominent leaders such as prime ministers, ASX100 CEOs, and international figures.
She brings a wealth of experience in stakeholder management, external engagement, and partnership development, alongside an impressive network across government, media, business, and education sectors.
Dr Piper holds a doctorate in history from the University of Oxford, where she was a Clarendon Scholar, and has consulted with universities, including Oxford and UTS, on external engagement for over two decades. She is also the visionary behind the Financial Review’s Higher Education Summit, Awards, and Best Universities Ranking.
